Announcing Broken Heart Blogfest

Okay... So, the first half of february is full of lovey dovey type blogfests. There is Smitten, which is a blogfest/contest that is held from Feb 1-14. Then YAmore blogfest on the 11th and that is about young adult romance. And on the 14th there are 2 (that's right, 2) kissing blogfests, Hot Kiss and Just Kiss Already.  That is a lot of kissing and love for one month, even for Valentine's Day. So, I decided to host my own blogfest a month after V-Day. This should give people enough time to sign up and write something. After the lovefest of blogfests in February, we need something different so here is my attempt.

I officially announce the Broken Heart Blogfest.
March 13-15th

(Thanks for the image, Mia. You're Awesomesauce!)

Pretty simple to interpret. I considered going horror, or break up but figured the broken heart would be more open to interpretation and different genres. It can be flash fiction, poetry, non-fiction, anything except 5,000 words cause umm, that's a little too long and I probably won't comment on it. Shorter tends to be better for me when it comes to reading on the computer. Anyways, the basic idea is to write about a heart breaking or one that is already broken. Show us the wretched emotions, the anger, depression, fear, whatever happens after the happy honeymooon lovey-dove V-day stuff is over and all that is left is a broken heart.

The "Rules":

1. Sign up on the linky thing located below.
2. Try to sign up before the 15th, if possible.
3. Post your entry on your blog along with a link to the blogfest.
4. Try to keep entries below 1,000 words if possible.
5. Read other people's entries and leave comments.
6. Eat ice cream and chocolate to feel better... okay, you don't have to do that if you don't want to. ;-)

Fun one! I MAY sign up... I have yet to write the scene but it's in my head... waiting to get out...

Thanks everyone. It's so exciting that people are signing up so fast.

Margo - I don't know how to do button stuff but now that Mia has made an image if you want to add it to a sidebar, it's available.

Jolene - Thanks for the comment. There's plenty of time to decide, so we'll see what happens. :-)

Nice! You're on my blogfesty list.

Thanks Dawn for hosting this. I had no idea there were so many lovey-dovey blogfests around! I'll grab your button for my blog and start thinking about. Is it just YA or any age group?

I don't enter in a lot of blogfests anymore, but this one sounds FUN! :D

Tessa - Awesome! Thanks.

L'Aussie - any age group or genre. I'm actually more of an adult writer anyways. Have a couple YA but many of my novels and blogfest posts are fantasy or umm whatever Cinder Story falls into.

Ashy!!! - Yay!!! *hugs*

Sounds great- I added you to my blogfests page!

Yeah, I can get into the broken hearts concept. I'm better at that than all the lovey dovey stuff.

Summer Ross - Thanks for adding it to your page.

Donna - hehe. I am okay with lovey dovey but not for 5 in a row. So, yay for heart wrenching that will come in March. ;-)

So um... I got a little... over excited? Overzealous? Crazy? But I wrote 3 entries. So since the blogfest lasts 3 days... Mia and I decided I'd post one everyday!

I'm sure there must be a way to make this funny. I'm going to find it if it kills me.

Dawn Embers said...

Wow.. so many comments and people signing up. It's all very exciting.

Stu- Go ahead and make it funny. As long as you avoid mushy and sappy I am fine with that. I just need relief from all the happy romancy stuff from last month.

caitpeterson - wow. Three entries. That's awesome! I'm so glad the blogfest inspired you so much.

*waves hi to the blogfest newbies*
Welcome!
